James A. Hoffman Sr.
James A. Hoffman Sr., 75, of 499 E. Penn St., Muncy, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born April 3, 1939, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Norman and Mary (Foust) Hoffman. He and his wife, the former Nancy Zarr, recently celebrated 55 years of marriage on Oct. 2.
James was a 1957 graduate of Muncy High School. He served honorably with the U.S. Navy SeaBees. James worked as a lathe operator at the former Pennsylvania House Furniture Co., Lewisburg.
He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy, the Roland Ritter American Legion Post 268, the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W. and the Muncy Lodge No. 299 F&AM.
James loved woodworking and enjoyed making furniture at his home as gifts for others. He was an avid Penn Sate fan and was fond of watching NASCAR. Most of all, James loved spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, James Hoffman Jr., of Muncy; a daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Marc Lowe, of Muncy; and one granddaughter, Ashlee Lowe.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son at birth, Stephen Hoffman and two sisters, Martha Kahler and Connie Hoffman.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a Masonic service will be held at 5:45 p.m.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 17 at the funeral home, with Chaplain David K. Fishel, of Susquehanna Home Care and Hospice, officiating.
Burial with full military honors followed in the Muncy Cemetery.
The family provided the flowers and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., 12 N. Market St., Muncy, PA 17756.
