Marian R. Maurer

Marian R. Maurer, 57, of 896 Glade Run Road, Muncy, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at the home of her parents in Ralston.

Born Oct. 3, 1957, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Elmer L. and Rose M. (Meuse) Smith, who survive. On July 12, 1980, she married Collins Maurer, who survives. Together they celebrated 34 years of marriage.

Marian was a graduate of Canton High School and the former Williamsport Area Community College Nursing School. She worked as a nurse for 37 years most recently with the Williamsport OBGYN, in Dr. Donato’s office. Marian loved her job and looked forward to delivering babies.

She was an active member of the St. James Episcopal Church, Muncy.

Marian was an avid collector of Fenton slippers and enjoyed large gatherings which gave her a chance to socialize, especially with family and friends. She loved October, the fall season and the opportunity to take walks on windy days.

Surviving in addition to her parents, of Ralston and her husband, of Muncy, are a son and daughter-in-law, Jared and Ximena Maurer, of Silver Spring, Md.; a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer “Skip” Smith II and April Smith, of Trout Run; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Timothy Knaur, of Trout Run and Sherry and James Gray, of Ralston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a funeral was held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Ann Overmiller of Ralston United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial was held at the convenience of the family in Muncy Cemetery.

The family provided the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Susquehanna Cancer Center, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
