Jean L. Spring

Jean Louise Spring, 85, a resident of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Muncy, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, in the Harbour Health Center. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, on Monday, July 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Gilbert and Carrie Elizabeth (Hall) Miller.

Jean was the widow of Wayne T. Spring who preceded her in death on June 19, 2014. She was a 1947 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School. Jean was self employed as a domestic housecleaner, having retired in 1987. She had formerly been employed by the former Weldon Manufacturing at Muncy.

Jean was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at Port Charlotte, Fla., and a former member and Sunday School teacher at St. Andrew Lutheran Church at Muncy. Jean was a charter member of the Muncy Jaycee Wives and a member of the Muncy and Montgomery Units of the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed the outdoors.

She is survived by one son, the Rev. Timothy W. and wife Pamela Spring, of Bozeman, Mont.; one daughter, Sandra J. and husband Clifford Hoffman, of Hughesville; five grandchildren, Jason Hoffman, Jeremy Hoffman, Justin Hoffman, Hilary Porter, Bethany Spring; and six great-grandchildren, Grace, Noah, Adam, Lauren Hoffman, Maci Klock and Liam Porter. In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul F. Miller and Lloyd G. Miller Jr. and two sisters, Wilma Miller and Dorothy M. Stamets.

Graveside funeral services were conducted in the Muncy Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, with the Rev. Timothy W. Spring, her son, officiating. The family provided the flowers. Memorial gifts may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
