Carl D. “Dick” Figels Jr.
Carl D. “Dick” Figels Jr., 85, of Loyalsock, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at the home of his grandchildren, Boyd and Amanda Hartman. He was born July 28, 1929, in Muncy Valley, a son of the late Carl D. and Erma B. (Bacon) Figels Sr. June 11, 1949, he married the late Hilda E. Hall, who died Jan. 30, 1999.
He was a member of Evangelical Friends Church, Hughesville. Carl attended Hughesville High School and had worked at the former US Ribbon Mills and retired from Grumman Manufacturing after 11 years as an assembler. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.
Carl is survived by two sons, James A. Figels, of Muncy and Jeffrey (Kay) Figels, of Hughesville; two daughters, Bonnie J. Figels, of Loyalsock and Debra S. Diehl, of Loyalsock; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by a brother, James F. Figels; sister, Helen Eck; and a son-in-law, George A. Diehl.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, officiated by the Rev. Richard Gessling. The interment was in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The family received friends Friday in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
