Elizabeth Lenore (Grady) Capozzi

Elizabeth Lenore (Grady) Capozzi, 98, formerly of Montgomery, PA, joined God and her loved ones in Heaven on Friday, December 5, 2014, in the presence of her devoted daughters, Patricia and Doris. She was a resident of the Colestock Health Center, Quincy Village, Quincy, PA, and previously lived in Rockville, MD.? Born August 22, 1916, in Montgomery, PA, she was the daughter of John Michael and Edna Mae (Miller) Grady. Her paternal grandfather, Thomas Edward Grady, Esq., (the 7th Burgess of Montgomery) and her father were editors and publishers of the acclaimed Montgomery Mirror newspaper (1893-1926). Her maternal grandfather, Robert Milton Miller, and son, Claude M. Miller, owned and operated “The Miller Desk Company” in Montgomery. Her first cousin, J. Harold Grady, was the mayor of Baltimore, MD, and sat as chief judge of the Supreme Bench. ? Elizabeth was the widow of first husband, Dorsey William Claudfelter, Sr., with whom she shared 39 years of marriage. After 6 blessed years of marriage to her second husband, Armand Anthony Capozzi, and making their home in Rockville, MD., he preceded her in death in 1994. ?A 1934 graduate of Montgomery High School, she entertained as the pianist for the school’s orchestra. Elizabeth retired from Bro-Dart Industries, Williamsport, PA, as a computer cataloguer and processor.?She was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Rockville, MD.?Elizabeth possessed a spirit of undeniable resoluteness and of indispensable fortitude which guided her in fulfilling her love of music as a gifted pianist. Her enterprising nature, hardworking attitude, and unpretentious character prepared her to perceive adventurous possibilities in numerous experiences.? During her 33 years of retirement, “Liz” was actively involved as a board member of the Bethany House Residents’ Association in Rockville, MD, where she resided. She organized and participated in gala events for its senior residents, sponsored the gift shop, and volunteered as desk receptionist, all the while her piano-playing continued to be appreciated by the residents. Liz became the pianist of “The Skyliners” jazz band, the Jewish Community Center’s “Jazz Ensemble”, “The Carnation Players Theater Group” of Rockville, the “Bethany House Rhythm Band” (appearing at the White House in Washington, DC), and pianist for their Vesper Services and festive occasions. She was a member of the “Young at Heart Club” and “The Triple F Club”. She was an avid reader (providing recommendations for “a good read” to the bi-monthly Book-Mobile), rose gardener, island-cruiser, and traveler within the U.S. and abroad. ?Elizabeth is survived by four children: D. William Claudfelter, Jr., of PA; Richard A. Claudfelter of MD; Doris M. (Claudfelter) Yeager (Henry) of PA; Patricia E. (Claudfelter) Goodheart (Steve) of NC; by four step-children; by eight grandchildren; by ten step-grandchildren; by ten great-grandchildren; by seven nieces and three nephews. ? She was preceded in death by two sisters: Doris M.(Grady) Waltman and Edna M. Grady; by seven brothers: J. Robert Grady, Sr., J. Donald Grady, Lawrence Grady, Francis M.Grady, Frederick M. Grady, Philip V. Grady, and Joseph R. Grady; by niece Mary E. Waltman; and by nephews Gary L.Grady and J. Robert Grady, Jr.?The family will arrange interment and a memorial service at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, Pa, for a later time.
