J.E. “Jay” Moore
J.E. “Jay” Moore, 91, of Muncy, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at his home.
Born Aug. 3, 1923 in Mooresville, N.C., he was a son of the late John Espy and Mae Lou (Edmiston) Moore. On Sept. 29, 1946, he married the former Edith Noreen Steele. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before her death on March 9, 2012.
J.E. served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He later retired from the former Avco-Lycoming, now Textron, Williamsport.
He loved to maintain his home and enjoyed the wildlife and nature surrounding him. J.E. cherished spending time with his family. He was family-oriented and loved children.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Pat Moore, of Harrisburg and Sandy Moore and Brad Christ, of Hershey; one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Vikki Moore, of Harrisburg; two sisters in North Carolina; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, John, who died in 1997; two brothers; and five sisters.
Friends will be received today from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Arlene Beechert, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
