Robert Milton Reeder Burns

Robert Milton Reeder Burns, 89, of 108 Antique Court, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at AnMed Health in Anderson, S.C.

Born in Muncy, he was a son of the late Robert B. and Nina Snyder Burns and a graduate of Muncy High School. He was a retired industrial engineer with GTE Sylvania in Montoursville. He had a passion for community development and served in many capacities with local community organizations including serving as chairman of the Danville Chamber of Commerce. He was a commercial pilot, served as a flight instructor and was former commander of Squadron 401, Civil Air Patrol in Pennsylvania. Served as a councilman for Muncy. He was a Past President of Chapter No. 89 of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers in Central Pennsylvania and a consultant to Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), Industrial Resource Center in Pennsylvania. He was appointed by then Governor Casey of Pennsylvania to a task force to develop Economic Incentive Plan for the Kellogg Corporation. He was a founding board member of Our Towns 2010, a long range vision program for Lycoming County in Central Pennsylvania.

Robert was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Muncy.

Surviving are his daughter, Roberta Ann Balliet, of Pendleton; son, Robert Louis Raymond Burns (Ruth Glass Burns), of Summerfield, N.C.; grandchildren, Keith Balliet (Corina), Jason Burns, Justin Burns, Morgan Burns and Meredith Glass; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Burns, Logan Burns, Luke Balliet and Ava Balliet.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Andy Balliet; brother, Louis G. Burns; sisters, Roberta Burns and Mae Treon Foster; and son-in-law, James Balliet.

Memorial services were 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.

The family greeted friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

A graveside committal service will be held Aug. 1, 2015, in Muncy with Grenoble Funeral Home handling local arrangements.
