Alvin H. Henderson

Alvin H. Henderson, 89, of Susquehanna Township, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at Rose View Center. He was born July 23, 1925, in Hughesville, a son of Robert W. and Eva M. Bussler Henderson.
Alvin retired as a tool and die maker for Springs, formerly Carey McFall. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy from 1942 to 1946, and then in the Coast Guard from 1947 to 1949. Alvin was a graduate of the former Williamsport Technical Institute and coached Newberry Little League, West End League (Newberry) and the South Williamsport American Legion Baseball. He was a 65-year member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he served as a Councilman, was on the Property Committee, and was an usher.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Frederick.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Pauline M. Reigle; sons, Robert (Jane) Henderson, of Souix City, Iowa and Thomas (Jan) Henderson, of Williamsport; daughter, Mary Ann Henderson, Kirk DeMadaler, of Warrenton, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral service was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Joshua L. Reinsburrow officiating. Interment followed in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends were received Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
