Mary E. Riley
Mary E. Riley of Bethlehem, passed away early Friday morning January 9th at Alexandria Manor in Bethlehem, Pa, after a long illness. She was born on July 16, 1930 in Geisinger Hospital in Danvlle, Pa., to Amos and Ella (Busse) Gruber. She attended Muncy High School and graduated in the class of 1948. She then attended Penn State University where she graduated in 1952 with her B.A. Degree. She went on to Drexel University Library School where she recieved her M.S. in L.S. in 1953. She was employed at Lehigh University Libraries for 40 yrs., from 1953 until her retirement in 1993. She retired as Head of Document Delivery, at Lehigh University. She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church, Bethlehem. She was also a member of New Temple Chapter 298, Order of Eastern Star, Allentown Shrine no. 27, and White Shrine of Jerusalem.
She is survived by her stepsons, James W. Riley, Jr, of Minisink, Pa., Thomas R. Riley, of New York, and Sean T. Riley of Bath, Pa. Besides her Parents, she is predeceased by her husband, James W. Riley, Sr., whom she was married to from 1968 until his death in 1990.
Viewing was Monday evening, Jan. 12 from 7 to 9:00 p.m. in the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St. Bethlehem and on Tuesday morning from 10:30-11:00 in Wesley Methodist Church, 2540 Center St., Bethlehem, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in Church.
