Erma Eveland

Erma V. Eveland, 92, formerly of Montgomery, passed away on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, in the Susquehanna Health Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Unit in Muncy. Born in Bloomsburg, on Wednesday, July 26, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertelle (Hayman) Yaple.

She was the widow of Robert V. Eveland, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1997.

Erma was a 1940 graduate of Benton Vocational High School and the Bloomsburg Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Bloomsburg Hospital and the Muncy Valley Hospital and had also been employed by the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at Lewisburg.

Erma was a member of the Monsey Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting, macrame, plastic canvas, word search puzzles, camping and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dale A. and Connie Eveland, of Montgomery; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane K. and Jay Emery, of Montgomery; four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted noon Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, with Michael Hill, pastor of the Elimsport United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery, East Fishing Creek Township, Columbia County. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
