Virginia Ruth Fry

Virginia Ruth (Eck) Fry, 82 of 25 S. Market St., Muncy, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at the Williamsport Home.

Born March 2, 1932, in Eldred Township, Lycoming County, she was a daughter of the late Lee Roy and Thelma Ruth (Kiess) Eck. In March 1965 she married Linwood L. Fry, who preceded her in death July 20, 1982. Together they celebrated 17 years of marriage.

Virginia was a 1950 graduate of the Montgomery-Clinton High School and a 1953 graduate of the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for 37 years as a registered nurse in the obstetrical department at the Muncy Valley Hospital. Virginia retired as department supervisor in 1990. Following retirement she enjoyed socializing with the other retired staff from the Muncy Valley Hospital.

Virginia was a member of St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery, where she taught Sunday school and served many years as church treasurer.

Virginia enjoyed doing needlepoint, especially making pillows, which she loved gifting to friends and family. She was also fond of crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are four siblings and their spouses, Maxine and Lewis Secules, of Unityville, Ken and Nancy Eck and Pat and Jack Rushoe, all of Muncy and Cheryl and Hugh Spencer, of Newtown Square; and she was affectionately known as Aunt Ginnie to her numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, with her pastor, the Rev. Viking Dietrich, officiating.

Burial followed in Montoursville Cemetery.

The family provided the flowers and suggest memorial contributions in Virginia’s name be made to either St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, PA 17752 or to a charity of one’s choice.
