C. Kenneth Rood
C. Kenneth Rood, 93, of 501 Industrial Park Road, Muncy, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at the Gatehouse, Williamsport.
Born March 20, 1921, in Dorrenstown, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ella (Randall) Rood. His first wife of 53 years, the former Irene C. Fassett, died Oct. 22, 1999.
Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was very active in the civil air patrol for many years. He was employed for more than 20 years at Avco-Lycoming, now Textron. Kenneth previously owned and operated a tractor trailer.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time in Florida.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary H. Sr. and Marsha Rood, of Hughesville and Kenneth G. and Debra Rood, of Muncy; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth A. and Sam Newman, of Muncy, Sharon I. Sones, of Turbotville and Faith M. and Sid Holmes, of Muncy; a brother, Donnie Rood, of New Albany; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by his second wife, Joyce (Perritt) Rood; a son, Dale A. Rood Sr.; a son-in-law, Ronald Sones; two brothers, A. Richard and Harry “Dewey” Rood; and three sisters, Grace VanDyke, Corinne Howell and Corola Heskell.
Friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral was held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jane O’Borski, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville.
Burial with full military honors followed in Muncy Cemetery.
