Leota Kepner Bacon McLaughlin

Leota Kepner Bacon McLaughlin, 99, formerly of Hughesville, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Unit.

Born Oct. 24, 1915, in Penn Township, Lycoming County, she was a daughter of the late Howard M. and Clara M. Warburton Kepner.

Leota retired in 1997 from the former Weldons Apparel, Muncy, after having worked there for over 30 years. She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church, Muncy, and the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are a son, Wayne (Alma) Bacon, of Cave Creek, Ariz.; a grandson, Gary (Julie) Bacon; two great-grandchildren, Alexandra A. Bacon and Michael W. Bacon; two nieces, Joanne (Cleason) Hall and Sarah Opp; and a nephew, Leo (June) Temple.

In addition to her parents, Leota was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McLaughlin; two brothers, Kenneth Kepner and Collins Kepner; two sisters, Viola Evans and Edna Temple; and two nieces, Janice Martin and Ida Gordner.

Funeral services were held 11a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Jane L. O’Borski officiating. Burial followed in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
