Mabel Mae Pentz

Mabel Mae Pentz, 91, of Montgomery, passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, in the Geisinger Medical Center. Born in Milton, on Sunday, April 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Hazel E. (Sauers) Farnsworth.

Mabel was the widow of Paul L. Pentz Sr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1994.

She was retired from the former Carey-McFalls at Montgomery and had previously been employed by the former Montgomery Mills and the former Isaac Decker Co.

Mabel was a member of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church at Montgomery where she was a member of the Brick Church Women and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Mabel was a member of the Montgomery Senior Citizens and enjoyed crafts.

She is survived by three sons and four daughters-in-law, Paul L. and Carol Pentz Jr., of Montgomery, Donald D. and Evie Pentz, of Watsontown, the Rev. James R. and Holly Pentz, of Watsontown, Bonnie Pentz, of Muncy; and one sister, Joann Andrews, of Loyalsock. Mabel is also survived by ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her son, Raymond L. Pentz; four grandchildren, Holly Ann Pentz, Donald Pentz Jr., Darlene Starr and Kathy Starr; one brother, John L. Farnsworth Jr.; and four sisters, Nancy Bohartz, Mary Kennedy, Letha Klinefelter and Pauline Regel.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, with the Rev. Viking E. Dietrich, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery, Clinton Township, Lycoming County.

Friends called 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Arrangements were handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Ave., Montgomery.
