Ronald G. Montgomery

Ronald G. Montgomery, 72, of Hughesville, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Ron was born Nov. 28, 1942, in Muncy, a son of the late Earlsie G. and Alice Josephine (Worthington), of Montgomery. April 15, 1973, he married Cynthia D. Burrows, who survives.

Ron was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he served in the past as Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. He worked for Andritz for over 30 years in the maintenance department and later as receiving clerk. He was a co-organizer of the Muncy Valley Church Slow-pitch Softball League. Ron enjoyed bowling, softball and was an avid Yankee’s fan.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, Ron is survived by two sons, David B. (Wendy) Montgomery, of Milton, and Gary L. (Donna) Montgomery, of Hughesville; two daughters, Brenda M. (Daniel) Dorman, of Hughesville, and Marcie “Moose” Edler, of Denver, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Jarett, Ethan, Coy, Casey, Cody and Ashley; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Carley, Adison and Catlin; a brother, George L. (Pauline) Montgomery, of Hughesville; and a sister, Arlene L. “Sis” (John) Smith, of Hughesville.

Ron was preceded in death by a brother, William J. Montgomery.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by the Rev. Jane O’Borski and Pastor Art Gladfelter. The interment was in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
