Ruth M. Andrus Faus Wentzel

Ruth M. Andrus Faus Wentzel, 97, of Hughesville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Muncy Valley Hospital.

She was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Roaring Branch, a daughter of Hiram and Charlotte Woodward Andrus. Ruth graduated from Ralston High School in 1936. She also went to a business school. She married Harold W. Faus, June 28, 1939, at Central Baptist Church, Williamsport.

Ruth worked at R and G Knitting Mills in Williamsport.

Ruth and Harold had five surviving children, Bonnie (Carl) Reece, Sally (Michael) Minatelli, Larry (Alice) Faus, Linda (Daniel) Pitcher and Mary (Thomas, deceased) Smith.

Harold passed away Oct. 25, 1966. They were married 27 years.

Ruth married James Wentzel March 31, 1972. They were married 43 years. Jim is currently living in the Muncy Valley Hospital, Skilled Nursing Unit.

Ruth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, of Hughesville. She was an active member for many years. In her younger years, she worked with the youth fellowship in the Methodist Church, of Hughesville. She was president of the Hughesville High School Band Parents with four kids in the band. She also was very active in the Hughesville Fireman’s Auxiliary.

After Harold passed away, she worked at the Hughesville High School library, Muncy State Prison, Glamorize and Lysock View in Loyalsock.

Ruth loved to work in her garden and flower beds. She planted flowering trees and loved to feed the birds. She enjoyed travelling, knitting, reading and loved to play bocce. She was secretary of the Picture Rocks Bocce League for several years. She loved to have all the family home for Thanksgiving, birthday dinners and picnics. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to Hughesville High School football games up until her early nineties.

Ruth had nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her eight siblings, Alice, Russell, Rosalie, John, Ernest, Fred, Harry and Eugene.

Her pastor, Cinda Brucker, of Trinity Lutheran Church, and Pastor Robert Ingraham, of Moreland Baptist Church, will officiate at Ruth’s funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 S. Main St., Hughesville.
