Alem W. “Sonny” Hull

Alem W. “Sonny” Hull, 83, of Muncy, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at his home.

Born Jan. 19, 1932, in Montgomery, he was a son of the late Alem P. and Constance Turner Hull. His wife of 49 years, the former Virginia Armstrong, preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 2007.

Sonny was a graduate of Montgomery High School, Class of 1950, and Lycoming College. Over the years, he owned and operated several local businesses, including, Hull’s Speed & Marine, Montgomery, Community Bowling Center, Montgomery, Cloverleaf Lanes, Muncy, Imperial Lanes, Milton, and co-owned ABC Lanes, Williamsport. He was a member of the Lycoming County Bowling Hall of Fame and enjoyed raising migratory waterfowl. He was also a seasoned craftsman who specialized in building boat engines and hydroplanes.

Surviving are a son, Randy Hull, of Muncy; a brother, Marshall (Connie) Hull, of Muncy; a companion, Nikki Marretti; a goddaughter, Valerie (Howard) Christie; and his faithful dogs, Molly and Ginger.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Kathy Burkhart, CLM, officiating. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery. Friends called from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family provided the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
