Madeline Jane Sheets

Madeline Jane Sheets, 95, of Pennsdale, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at the SUN Home Hospice Unit of the Sunbury Community Hospital.

She was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Danville, a daughter of the late Harry Wilbur and Olive Laura (Buck) Eichenlaub. January 1, 1947, she married the late Darrol Sheets, who died May 8, 1976.

Madeline retired from the former Montgomery Mills after many years in different departments of the factory. Following her retirement, she provided home health care to home-bound people in the area, often caring for those much younger than she was. Madeline loved gardening, canning, animals, spending time outdoors, baking, cooking and spending time visiting family and friends.

Madeline is survived by five children, Dennis (Alma) Sheets, Tivoli, Diane (Jack) McCoy, Pennsdale, Darrol (Carla) Sheets, Pennsdale, Timothy Sheets, Montgomery and Jeffery (Betsy) Sheets, Delavan, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Burkholder and Lucille (Bob) Campbell, both of Muncy.

Madeline was preceded in death by twin grandsons, Darrol Arnold Sheets Jr. and Darrol Lance Sheets; seven siblings, Beatrice Anderson, Donald, Milnor, Benton, John, Marvin (Madeline’s twin) and Joseph Eichenlaub.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Pastor James R. Taylor, SUN Home Hospice Chaplin. The interment was in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
