Dr. Rick C. Walters

Dr. Rick C. Walters, 56, of New Tripoli, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.

He was the husband of Lynne K. (Blose) Walters to whom he was married 13 years last March 8.

Born in Muncy, Lycoming County, Dec. 31, 1958, Rick was the son of Ted and Shirley (Heddings) Walters of Muncy. A graduate of Salus University, (Pennsylvania College of Optometry) in Philadelphia, Class of 1990, Dr. Walters owned and operated Walters Optometric Center in Palmerton for the last 20 years. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church Orefield, past President of the Whitehall Lions Club, life member of the Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club, New Tripoli. He formerly served on the Executive Committee of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Rick was an avid fly fisherman and Mets fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are: daughters, Savannah L. Gibson, Kacie L. Walters, both at home; sister, Cameron Myers and her husband, John, of Hughesville; father and mother-in-law, Roy and Kathi (Mengel) Blose, of Hummelstown; nephews, Zachary and Kyle Poust, Matthew and Daulton Myers; and niece, Ashley Visscher.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield, with the Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Wargo as Celebrant. Family and friends paid their respects from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the church. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville was in charge of arrangements.
