Edward L. Yordy
Edward L. Yordy (Ed), 79, a resident of Eagles Mere, PA and The Villages, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Eagles Mere on Friday, July 31, 2015. Born Saturday, December 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Marye (Childs) Yordy.
Ed was the husband of Janet M. (Murdock) Yordy with whom he celebrated a 57th wedding anniversary on December 28, 2014.
He graduated from Bucknell University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and later received his Master’s degree from Lehigh University in Civil Engineering. He was a co-founder of Chimney Consultants, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, a consulting firm, specializing in the design of concrete and steel reinforced chimneys for the global electrical power industry.
A member of Immanuel Baptist Church, The Villages, FL, he was actively involved in several men’s Bible studies. Ed was a former member of the Eagles Mere-Laporte Lions Club, as well as several engineering societies.His favorite hobbies included fishing, traveling, Sudoku and crossword puzzles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In 1947, Ed’s baseball team had the distinction of playing in the first Little League World Series held in Williamsport, PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Steven Yordy, MD and wife Judy, Milton, PA; Carolyn Yordy, Gibsonia, PA and Andrew Yordy, also of Gibsonia, PA; two sisters, Patricia Trego and Nancy Yordy; and four grandchildren, Richard Sahns, Jr.; Elizabeth Yordy; Adrienne Yordy and Steven Yordy II. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by an infant son, William.
