Babe M. Lawton

Babe M. Lawton, 90, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 4, 2015. Born in Gregg Twp., Union County, PA, on Tuesday, October 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Edna (Young) Staggert.

Babe was the widow of Robert G. “Red” Lawton, Sr. who preceded her in death on November 29, 2002.

She was last employed by the J A Habig Veneer Co. at Montgomery, PA and had formerly been employed by the former Montgomery Mills and Bobbie Brooks.

Babe was a member of the Maple Hill United Methodist Church at Montgomery, PA. She enjoyed gardening and walking in the state game lands.

She is survived by three children, Terry Kerwell, Montgomery, PA; Ruth and husband Bob Younger, Watsontown, PA; Dianne Shrey, Gahanna, OH; one son-in-law, Clifford Oden, Muncy, PA; six grandchildren, Deb and husband Bob Six, Columbus, OH; Jeff and wife Heather Shrey, Westerville, OH; Terry and wife Kristina Kerwell, Jr., Navarre, FL; Crystal Pellot, Middleburg, PA; Rob Younger, Watsontown, PA; RaeAnn and husband Chris Everetts, Montgomery, PA. Babe is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Gervase Staggert, Robert Staggert, Richard Staggert, Frank Staggert, Paul Staggert; two sister, Ruth Snyder and Eva Staggert and three step-children, Robert Lawton, Lester Lawton and Rebecca Oden.

A memorial service will be conducted from the Maple Hill United Methodist Church, Ridge Road, Montgomery, PA at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 with Virginia Bailey, her pastor, officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the church. The family respectfully declines flowers.
