Ruth W. Keyser

Ruth W. Keyser, 93, a resident of Pennsdale, PA, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 in The Gatehouse at Williamsport, PA. Born in West Chester, Chester County, PA, on Wednesday, June 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Hall) Whitacre.

Ruth was the widow of William J. Keyser who preceded her in death just 15 days prior on November 15, 2015.

Ruth was a graduate of West Chester University receiving a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education. She was employed as a first grade teacher by the West Chester Area School District at West Chester, PA.

She was a member of the Pennsdale Friends Meeting House, the West Chester University Alumni Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She had volunteered at McDermott’s Athletic Club Daycare Center and was a former Girl Scout leader. Ruth helped navigate her husband while he flew their airplane. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, reading, playing bridge and spending much time with her many friends and family.

Ruth is survived by two children, Linda K. and husband Gary Jones, Pennsdale, PA; David W. and wife Bonnie Keyser, West Chester, PA and one granddaughter, Nickolette Jones, Pennsdale, PA.

Services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Gatehouse, C/O Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
