Alma Jean Snyder
Alma Jean Snyder, 81, of Muncy, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Muncy Valley Hospital.
Born September 24, 1934 in Muncy Valley, she was a daughter of the late Jason A. and Glenna M. (Barto) Montague. Her husband of 29 years, Jesse K. Snyder, preceded her in death on October 13, 1981.
Alma Jean was a loving mother, friend, and mentor, who was always there for those in need. She also provided joy and comfort to hundreds of people each year through her card ministry.
She was employed as a secretary for several local businesses, before retiring in 2012 from the Law Office of Howard J. Langdon. Alma Jean was an active member of the Moreland Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for 13 years. In addition, she taught Sunday School, served as a Deaconess, as editor of the church newsletter, and held various other positions over the years. She was a member of the East Lycoming Historical Society, the former Lady Hughes Rebekah Lodge No. 215, and served two terms on the East Lycoming School Board. Alma Jean also enjoyed traveling, and attending church conferences.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane K. (Terry) Little of Muncy, and Tina L. (Steve) Worley of Tolleson, AZ; two sons, Timothy Snyder of Muncy, and David T. (Roschele) Snyder of Unityville; two sisters, Janet L. (Clarence) Lore of Unityville, and Betty Ann (Harvey Jr.) Sullivan of Hughesville; a brother-in- law, Gary R. Houseknecht of Muncy Valley; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Lupold and Judith Snyder, both of Muncy;12 grandchildren;16 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband and parents, Alma Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Lois J. Houseknecht; a great-granddaughter, Abigale Fenstermaker; and two brothers-in-law, Gene Lupold and Lester Snyder.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Moreland Baptist Church, 118 Moreland Baptist Rd., Muncy, with Rev. Robert Ingraham officiating. Burial followed in the Moreland Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 8, at the church.
The family provided the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Moreland Baptist Church, 118 Moreland Baptist Rd., Muncy, PA 17756.
