Harold E. Auten

Harold E. Auten, 80, a resident of Pennsdale, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Turbotville, Northumberland County, PA, on Thursday, April 9, 1936, he was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Mildred E. (Snyder) Auten Hess.

Harold was the husband of Carla (Overhiser) Auten with whom he celebrated a 48th wedding anniversary on August 5, 2015.

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Harold served in both the European and Pacific Theatres and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War.

Harold was self employed as the owner of Auten’s Air Condition and Heating.

He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection at Muncy, PA. Harold was a life member of Edward J. Smith V.F.W. Post 3428 at Muncy. He was an avid reader, enjoyed bird watching, hunting, fishing and earlier in life cooking. He especially enjoyed family vacations and spending time with family members.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Garth E. Auten, Hummelstown, PA; Brian F. and wife Allison Auten, Elizabeth City, NC; two grandchildren, Lyndsey Auten; Brandon Auten; two “special” sisters, Dr. Portia Brandt; Nannette Rusczyk and his beloved dog, Addie. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Eleanor and Edward Overhiser.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 with Reverend Glenn McCreary, his pastor, officiating. Interment was in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Williamsport. Friends called on Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. The family respectfully declines flowers.
