John “Jack” Paul Eakin

John “Jack” Paul Eakin, 74, of Hughesville, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at his home.

Born August 2, 1942 in Williamsport, he was a son of Ernest F. and the late Marion L. (Gephart) Eakin. He married the former Mary J. McDermott, and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Jack was a graduate of South Williamsport High School, Class of 1960. He worked as an Underwriting Manager for Selective Insurance for 42 years, retiring in 2004. Jack was a member of the Church of the Ressurection in Muncy. He was formerly a South Williamsport Borough Council president, a member of the South Williamsport School Board, a judge of election in Wolf Twp, a very active South Williamsport Band parent, and treasurer of the South Williamsport Class of 1960 Reunion Committee.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two daughters, Denise M. (Scott) Aderhold and Debra L. Eakin; a sister, Kathleen (David) Steinbacher; five grandchildren, Logan J. Sherlinski, Emily E. Aderhold, Erika N. Sherlinski, Sara M. Aderhold, and Kylie J. Sherlinski; brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews

In addition to his mother, Jack was preceded by an infant daughter, Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, with Rev. Glenn McCreary officiating. Burial followed in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport. Friends called from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA 17756.
