Harriet G. “Dolly” Winder

Harriet G. “Dolly” Winder, 89, of McAdoo, PA and formerly of Robinsville, NC, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born May 18, 1927 in Muncy Creek Twp., a daughter of Harry and Edna Hagenbauch Waltman.

Dolly was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary; she was a member of the American Veterans Auxiliary and the U.S.O. She enjoyed music, reading and knitting. She loved praying and playing with her dog Princess.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Rev. Dr. Charles L. Winder, brothers, Wilmer, George, and Joe Waltman; sisters, Lois Holtzworth, Jane Voneida, Betty Poust, Rebecca Waltman, and her grandchildren, Betsy Winder and Kevin and Brett Bennett.

She is survived by her sons, John B. (Dianna) Winder of McAdoo, James P. (Anna) Winder of Nescopeck, Peter C. (Faye) Winder of Beresford, SD, and Phillip D. (Vera) Winder of Madison, GA; daughters, Judith A. (William, Jr.) Winner of Williamsport, Carol L. (Melvin) Bennett of Cogan Station, and Joanna S. (Keith) Carpenter of Griffin, GA; 25 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St. Montoursville with her son, the Rev. James P. Winder officiating. Interment followed in the Muncy Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends was held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
