Esther G. Bower
Esther G. (Dutch) Bower, 98, a resident of Montgomery, PA, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in the Watsontown Health & Rehab Center. Born in Gregg Twp., Union County, PA, on Thursday, October 17, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Florence (Robinson) King.
She was the widow of Kenneth L. Bower who preceded her in death on May 2, 1991.
Esther was employed as a knitter by the former Montgomery Mills for over 30 years and had also driven school bus for the Montgomery School District.
She was a member of the Maple Hill United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Esther had been active in the Brady Twp. Community Center and enjoyed baking, especially pies and bread. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her grand, great and great-great grandchildren.
Esther is survived by three children, Donna M. and husband William Middlesworth, Montgomery, PA; Gloria J. King, Watsontown, PA; Franklin L. Bower, Montgomery, PA; two siblings, Hannah “Tiny” Buck, Allenwood, PA; Harold “Pudge” King, Elimsport, PA and one nephew whom she raised, Timothy C. King, Turbotville, PA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Esther was preceded in death by five brothers, Willis “Pete” King, George “Bunk” King, Floyd “Gene” King, Earl “Mutt” King, Marvin “Dick” King; two sisters, Mary “Penny” Staggert, Annetta “Kit” Buck; one granddaughter, Tammy Middlesworth and one nephew whom she raised, Donald “Duck” King.
Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 with Chris Long, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Green Lawn Memorial Park. Friends called on Friday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
