H. Thomas Eddy

H. Thomas Eddy, 80, of Hughesville, died Monday, February 18, 2019 at his home.

Born August 31, 1938 in Hughesville, he was a son of the late Harold F. and Mayme (Nungesser) Eddy. He married the former Connie R. Price, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 7, 2018.

Tom was a 1956 graduate of Hughesville High School, and attended Penn State University from 1956 to 1959. He was employed at Sprout-Waldron and Fairman Real Estate & Insurance Agency before starting his own insurance agency, the H. Thomas Eddy Insurance Agency, Hughesville, where he retired from in 2011. He was also a member of the Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, where he served on the board and was a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years.

He was currently a member of the Muncy Lodge #299 F. & A. M., the George Callenberger Bocce League, and was a charter member of the Hughesville Little League. Tom was a former Judge of Elections for over 50 years in Hughesville, a little league baseball coach, a West Branch Chorale member, and the secretary of Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, bocce ball, and spending time at the cabin with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed taking hunting trips to Idaho and Colorado with his wife Connie, his hunting partner of over 62 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Schawanna (John) Vermilya of Exchange; two sons, Robert (Shelly) Eddy of Picture Rocks and Blaine (Rachelle) Eddy of Hughesville; six grandchildren, Reda Vermilya, Lynn Vermilya, Sarah Vermilya, Kayla Eddy, Avery Eddy, Wesley Hill, and Jordan Hill; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Eddy; and a brother-in-law, Arlynn “Bud” Price.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, at Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, 994 E. Penn St., Muncy, with Rev. Stephen R. Smith officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, where a masonic funeral service was held at 7:45 p.m.
