H. Gene Baysore

H. Gene Baysore, 91, of Muncy, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born Jan. 3, 1929, in Muncy, he was a son of the late William Lester Baysore and Mary M. (Dimm) Kirkner. On Aug. 29, 1953, he married the former Nola Limber, who survives. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Gene was a graduate of Morristown High School, N.J., and Rutgers University, N.J., where he received his bachelor’s degree.

While still in high school, he joined the Merchant Marines, then the Coast Guard. Gene served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Most of his life, he worked as a personnel manager, retiring from Kawneer, Bloomsburg, after 17 years.

He was a member of Muncy Presbyterian Church, where he previously held the position of elder. Gene was a member of the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, Muncy, the Muncy Historical Society and the Muncy Lodge 299, F. & A.M.

Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known to be a great poker player. He was also an aviation enthusiast and philanthropist, supporting numerous charities.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Slade and Ada Baysore, and Chip and Margey Baysore, all of Muncy; a daughter and son-in-law, Dara and Arroll Oden, of Millville; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a stepfather, Clarence Kirkner, and a brother, Del Baysore.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Muncy Presbyterian Church, with his pastor, Rev. Robert Dunkelberger, officiating.
