Ivan “Butch” M. Winder
Ivan “Butch” M. Winder, 82, of Hughesville, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at UPMC Susquehanna.
He was born on Monday, Dec. 27, 1937 in Picture Rocks, and was the son of the late Charles Lee and Nancy Vera (Montague) Winder. Butch married Shirley “Sis” Swales Winder on July 22, 1961, and shared 32 years of marriage before her passing on April 2, 1993. Butch then married Jean L. Shaylor on Nov. 12, 1994 and shared 25 years of marriage.
Butch served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. In 1998, Butch retired from Muncy Homes after 18 years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, country music such as Johnny Cash and Elvis, and taking bus trips with his wife, Jean.
Butch loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed nature, picnics with his family, and desserts. Butch had a big sense of humor and never let a sarcastic moment pass. He was very proud of the achievements of his children and grandchildren and he would let everyone know it.
He is survived by his wife, Jean L. (Shaylor) Winder; five daughters, Tami M. Winder, of Oklahoma, Robin M. (David) Harman, of Hughesville, Darla M. (Alan) Phillips, of Halifax, Ellie M. (Mike) Stark, of Muncy, and Debra M. (Donald) Winder, of Muncy; two stepdaughters, Terri J. (Randall) Kio, of New Columbia, and Heather S. (Rusty) Wallis, of Hughesville; two stepsons, Doyle C. Wallis, of Williamsport, and Duane R. (Kay) Wallis, of Hughesville; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 15, at Moreland Baptist Church, 118 Moreland Baptist Road, Muncy, with Rev. James Winder and David Harman, CYM officiating. Burial was held at the convenience of the family.
