Dorothy H. Whitmire

Dorothy H. Whitmire, 94, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, in UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA.

She was born Aug. 5, 1925 in Muncy, a daughter of the late Egbert P. and Catherine Rupert Hall, Sr.

She was currently a resident of Orchard Grove Assisted Living in Lakewood, NY.

She was a 1943 graduate of Muncy School and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1946. She also received a BS degree in Nursing Education from Hunter College in 1954, while working full time at the VA Hospital in Bronx, NY.

She was married to Jordan O. Whitmire, Jr., in 1954, who died at their home in Muncy in 1969.

She was a charge nurse at Muncy Valley Hospital from 1970 until her retirement in 1987 and was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy.

Dorothy is survived by her son Jordan O. (Evelyn) Whitmire III of Lakewood, NY and a daughter Janice E. Whitmire of Melbourne, FL. She has one grandson, Jordan O. (Molly) Whitmire IV of St. Augustine, FL and two great-grandsons, Jordan O. Whitmire V and Mason S. Whitmire, also of St. Augustine, FL. She is also survived by her siblings, Margaret Hall Markowitz of Folsom, PA and John L. Hall of Girdwood, Alaska.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Egbert P. Hall, Jr., and Rita Hall Dugan of Muncy.

In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes no visitation or service will be observed.
