Laura Dolores (Sis) Yoder
Laura Dolores (Sis) Yoder, 85, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at her home in New Castle, Delaware after suffering from vascular dementia for several years.
She was born in Muncy, PA to Hester (McCormick) and David E. Frey on Feb. 21, 1934. Laura graduated from Muncy High School in 1952 and also was a graduate of Lycoming College, Williamsport. Sis went on to serve in the US Air Force, worked at the State Correctional Institution and elementary school cafeteria, both in Muncy. She also enjoyed bowling and going to casinos.
Her husband, John (Jack) Yoder died Jan. 3, 2020. They would have celebrated 56 years of marriage on Jan. 23. Sis, her husband and their daughter, Debra were life-long residents of Muncy until Jack was transferred to the Delaware City Refinery in Delaware City, DE in 1981.
In the end stage of her life, Sis was living in Muncy in her mind. She always considered Muncy to be “home.”
Laura is predeceased by her husband, parents, and a stepfather, C. Larue Houseknecht. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Debra and Stephen Manning, of New Castle, DE, and a brother, Donald Frey, of El Paso, TX.
Per her request, there will be no viewing. A brief ceremony was held at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020.
