It is with saddened hearts that the family of James Keith Johnson announce his death. James was 74 when he entered eternal rest on Sunday evening, March 12, 2023, at his residence in Youngsville, LA.

James K. Johnson is a native of Pennsylvania, raised in Hughesville, PA. He spent his adult life in York, PA, now living in Youngsville, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. He was a 1966 graduate from Hughesville High School. He is graduate of York Academy of Arts, in York, PA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education with a minor in Pre-Med, with student teaching certifications from Kindergarten through High School from Millersville University. During this time, he worked at York Hospital as a Medical Photographer and Medical Illustrator. After graduating from Millersville University, he was a secondary school art teacher in the York City School District, York, PA. He continued his education at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland graduating with a Master of Fine Arts Degree.

He left art education and founded James Photo Art, a full-service art and photography company. He then purchased RHACO Advertising, a full-service advertising company, the York Paper Box Company, and the Book Bindery Company.

He was a 32nd degree Freemason and Past Master of York Pennsylvania Blue Lodge #266. His public service includes serving on the Board of Directors, for Millersville Alumni Association and for Re-Source York. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying fixed wing, helicopter, and hot air balloons. He enjoyed working with his hands building and restoring furniture. He was a member of the Lafayette Art Association and Gallery. He won several awards for his photography. His artwork hangs in private collections and homes.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 54 years, Paula Gray Johnson; his daughter, Heather R. Johnson Vice and her husband Michael; his son, Keith Johnson, II; his granddaughter, Violet M. Johnson; his sister, Debra Dirk and her husband Ron, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Paul R. Johnson and Georgine Eichenlaub Johnson.

Celebration of Life services will be determined by the family and be announced later.
