Muncy Suffers First Loss

Despite the Indians losing their first match of the year, some team members had a great day day. Wes Gotchall celebrated his 100th win after defeating Athens Marshal LeBlanc in the 130 pound weight bout this past Saturday during the quarterfinals in the District 4 AA Duals. Muncy’s Aaron Fry ranked third in the state at 145 pounds remains unbeaten and knocked off seventh-ranked Elias Biddle of Warrior Run and eighth-ranked Garrett Russell of Athens in the Indians’ first two matches. Muncy’s Zach Strickland (152) defeated Tyler Hain of Warrior Run who is top-ranked in the state, 3-2.

The Tigers took revenge on the Indians, being beaten by them a couple of weeks ago for the Heartland III title and captured the District 4 AA title, 43-33. Wins for the Indians came from Zach Strickland, Ryan Hembury, Cody Shreck, Andrew Gilchrist, Troy Hembury and Aaron Fry.

Muncy, the top-seeded team at the duals, started their day in the quarterfinals by defeating Athens, 40-30. Pins for the Indians came from Zach Strickland (171), Heath Strickland (119), and Wes Gotchall (130).

The Indians claimed victory over Warrior Run in the semi bout, to advance to the District 4 AA title match, 36-31. Muncy’s, Skylar Ebner, 125, had a big win as he came from behind, and pinned Jeff Stroup. Other wins came from Zach Strickland, Ryan Hembury, Cody Shreck, Heath Strickland, Wes Gotchall, Troy Hembury, and Aaron Fry.
