Muncy Stops Canton Muncy 42, Canton 6
Muncy’s defense stopped Canton all evening. Not only did they force several turnovers, they held Canton’s quarterback and forced him into rushing situations. The defense’s pressure resulted in the two picks as Canton forced passes down the field in an effort to beat the defense.
Muncy’s Zachary Strickland made a great play when he intercepted the ball on Canton’s third offensive play of the game. Strickland returned the ball 10 yards to give the offense starting field position deep Canton’s territory.
Muncy’s top offensive weapon capitalized off the team’s field position with an 11-yard touchdown run to start the scoring. Ryan Hembury finished the night with his fifth 100-yard rushing effort with 151 yards on 16 carries. He also scored three touchdowns including the team’s first. Hembury scored a second touchdown which Muncy’s defense created after Clayton Good intercepted Canton’s quarterback.
Strickland had a 114-yard night on four catches along with a 75-yard touchdown and a Rijad Sibanovic a 40-yard touchdown.
