Little League Opens Saturday

HUGHESVILLE – Although games have already started, the official opening day ceremony will be held on April 28, 2012. The day will start with a parade forming at the Hughesville Fire Hall and then will proceed to Walnut Street, on to Main Street, then turning on to Cemetery Street and finishing at the high school. After the parade, the opening ceremony will introduce the teams and their players at the ball field complex. They will have ballgames playing throughout the day starting at 11:00 a.m. The East Lycoming league consists of 26 teams in 9 divisions.

MUNCY – Muncy Little League will open its sixty-fifth season on Saturday, April 28, 2012 with ceremonies beginning at 11 a.m. at Kiess Park Field in Muncy Creek Township. Sarah “Salty” Ferguson will be the guest speaker. She played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, for the Rockford Peaches. Ms. Ferguson will share her inspirational story about her love for baseball and the experiences that she had playing professionally for two years in right field.

Emcee for the event will be Muncy Little League Vice President Chris Hann. The Color Guard will be presented by American Legion Post 268 with Becca Kriner singing the national anthem.
