East Lycoming inducts Hall of Famers

The East Lycoming Athletic Hall of Fame committee is pleased to announce this year’s inductees.

Harry Fry is a graduate of Picture Rocks High School, class of 1928. He distinguished himself in high school as an outstanding football and basketball player. He continued his athletic career at Bucknell University and was a star on the football team, scoring the winning touchdown against undefeated Fordham. Fry also lettered in basketball, baseball and track. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Bucknell Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.

Lee Hall graduated from Hughesville High School in 1961. He lettered three years in both football and wrestling. As a wrestler he was District, Regional and State Champion in 1960. His career record was 65-5. Hall continued his wrestling career at the University of Pittsburgh lettering three years, going undefeated in dual meets for two seasons. He was third team mid-season All-American and second team Eastern Interscholastic Wrestling Association (EIWA). His overall record was 48-6. Hall also wrestled in the finals of the Olympic trials in 1964, and initiated the wrestling program at Charleroi High School while coaching from 1967 to 1987.

Mike Fought is the third inductee. Fought graduated from Hughesville High School in 1970. He earned 9 Varsity Letters in his high school career. As a junior in football he was second team All West Branch All Star, and as a senior was named to first team. Fought also was named to the All-Eastern Division 3 All-Star team his senior year. His wrestling career record was 27-4 and he was the anchor for two consecutive West Branch Championship teams. He was East Sectional champion and District runner up. He has been very active in community sports since high school, and played baseball for the Hughesville Travelers capturing a league championship in 1975. Fought coached and managed East Lycoming Little League teams for four years winning two consecutive championships. He also coached two District 12 Championship teams, and has the most wins for East Lycoming Little League in District 12 All-Star competition. Mike Fought has dedicated the last 32 years to the athletes at Hughesville High School as the timekeeper for Varsity Football, Basketball (girls and boys) and Wrestling matches.

The induction will take place this Friday, September 28 at half time during the home game when Hughesville vs. North Penn (Blossburg).
