Muncy 57, Hughesville 48

First-time starters Nick Ring and Teddy Clark recorded double-doubles last Monday as Muncy beat Hughesville, 57-48. Ring had 18 points and 16 rebounds. Ammar Sabanovic scored 12 points, six assists, grabbed six rebounds and had three steals. Teddy Clark finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds while scoring nine of his points in the second half.

The Indians have won the last two years against Hughesville and erased a one-point fourth-quarter deficit. Muncy trailed by seven early in the second quarter and after turning the ball over seven times in the first 10 minutes, it only had two turnovers the rest of the game.

Tristan Jeffreys put Hughesville up 40-39 with seven seconds in the fourth quarter. Jeffreys scored 11 of his team-high 14 points in the third quarter. Muncy’s Dawson Fox stepped up his defense and held Jeffreys scoreless the rest of the game. Hughesville missed 14 layups and/or shots under the basket.

The Red Raiders upset Muncy last week beating them 68-59 in Montgomery. Sergei Cole led the team with 23 points while Colton Harer had 21 of his own. Ammar Sabanovic led the Indians with 16 points.

Spartans win showcase

Hughesville 62, Prep Charter 46

The Spartans made six 3-pointer shots in the first half of the game as they built a huge lead in the 62-46 victory over Prep Charter in the Williamsport Showcase on Saturday night.

Brandon Fortin made the final two of the 3-pointers and finished the game with nine points. Tristan Jeffreys had 13, Tyler Mitcheltree finished with 11 and sophomore Sean Poust scored 10 points.

Lewisburg defeated Hughesville 65-51 and never trailed after late in the first quarter. The Green Dragons completed 21 of 34 shots over the final three quarters.

Tristan Jeffreys, senior guard for the Spartans, scored 10 straight points and put Hughesville in the game. Jeffreys hit two long 3-pointers and made a steal that cut the deficit to 60-49 with 2:29 remaining. Jeffreys finished with a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds.
