Craig Weaver, the most successful coach in Montgomery history, resigned Wednesday as both the school’s girls tennis and basketball coach.

Earlier this month, Weaver’s softball coaching position was opened up despite vehement support from current and past players, many who showed up at the school board meeting in which the position was opened up.

Weaver coached the tennis team’s first four matches this season. He turned what had been a dormant program into a perennial league and district title contender and the team had a winning record every year during the 21st century.

Weaver coached the girls basketball team for 29 seasons and has more wins than all but one coach in Lycoming County history. He was closing in on 450 career wins and led Montgomery to three district championships as well as nine Mid-Penn Conference championships. Mont-gomery won six straight league titles at one point and reached districts 15 straight years during another stretch.
