Lady Indians edged out

With the score 4-2 in favor of the Lady Indians and entering the top of the sixth of the District 4 Class A semifinal last Wednesday at Elm Park, South Williamsport scored the final three runs in the final two innings edging Muncy, 5-4.

South scored first after Kelsey Gantz had a two-run triple in the first inning that put South ahead until Muncy’s Amanda Kustanbauter hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-2 after Caitlin Dauberman hit a RBI single. Muncy gained the lead for the first time in the third on an error that scored Jordan Jones. Kustanbauter retired seven straight and struck out all six batters in the fourth and fifth innings for the Indians and finished with 12 strikeouts.

Kalynn Wheeland led off the sixth with a walk for the Mounties and Gantz hit a 2-run inside-the-park home run that tied the game at four. Paige Lentz led off the seventh with a single and stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the seventh Alexis Temple led off for Muncy by reaching on an error and Sarah Miller reached by a walk. Muncy had runners on first and second with no outs but were stranded.
