Indians stop Defenders

The Hughesville High School Competitive Spirit squad is headed to Hershey to compete in the Competitive Spirit Championships on January 23 and 24. The cheerleaders finished second behind Southern Columbia in the District 4 competition which was held this past Saturday in Shamokin. Loyalsock and Troy, finished third and fourth, and will also be making the trip to states. Jeff Fry, Muncy sophomore guard, led the Indians in the second quarter, scoring 11 of Muncy’s 13 points. Fry matched a career-high with 20 points. Leone Ghezzi scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half as the Indians defeated Warrior Run, 63-47. Levi Myers added eight first-quarter points and grabbed 16 rebounds, Maurice Brown grabbed 10 rebounds before fouling out while Derek Sellers played strong defense.

Muncy Cagers defeat Red Raiders

Muncy 54, Montgomery 47

Leone Ghezzi scored 25 points as Muncy defeated the Red Raiders, 54-47. Jamil Hines scored a team-high 15 for Montgomery.

Spartans win in double overtime.

Hughesville beat Montoursville in double overtime, 61-58, while Alex Welch led the Spartans with 17 points, while Trey Smith and Landon Henry both scoring 11 apiece.
