Making their debut, the Spartan Baseball team won the annual “Backyard Brawl” at Bowman Field in Williamsport on Saturday, May 9.

Four high school teams competing in this annual event are usually Williamsport, South Williamsport, Montoursville and Loyalsock. But, due to Loyalsock’s traveling south earlier in the season to participate in a national tournament, one spot was available, and Hughesville filled it. Not only did they fill a spot, but they won, defeating Montoursville first, 5-2, and Williamsport, 3-0, to capture this year’s championship.
