HUGHESVILLE – On Friday, August 26, the Hughesville Spartan football team will kick off their opening game against Lewisburg by celebrating the second annual “Military Appreciation Game”. The night will include displays of equipment and technology from all branches of the Armed Forces, an active military member singing the National Anthem, and a sky diving team, Fastrax, courtesy of UGI Energy Services – Sunbury Pipeline, flying in the game ball as well as “Old Glory”. The 60-foot-long American flag will be flown above Hughesville and will land at the High School football field. At half-time, a group of young men and women will be sworn into the United States Armed Forces to begin their service to our country.

Veterans and active duty military members are asked to identify themselves at the admission gate, where they will gain free entry to the game and be escorted to the field to be recognized as part of the pre-game ceremony. This event is open to all veterans and currently serving military members, no matter where you live. All are encouraged to participate and be recognized for your selfless acts of patriotism and public service. All veterans and currently serving military members are asked to be at the Hughesville Football Stadium at 6:15 so that festivities can begin at 6:30. The evening will end with fireworks, courtesy of Muncy Bank & Trust Co. following the game.
