DISTRICT 4 COMPETITIVE SPIRIT

RUTH FRY/The Luminary The Hughesville Competitive Spirit squad competed in the small Varsity Division last Saturday in Shamokin at the 2016-2017 PIAA District IV Cheerleading competition and finished second behind Southern Columbia. With the second-place finish, they have qualified and will advance to the PIAA State Competitive Spirit Championships which are scheduled for Jan. 20 and 21 at the Giant Center in Hershey. Other teams advancing to states are Warrior Run who won the Co-Ed Varsity Division, and Milton and Montoursville in the Large Varsity placing first and second respectively.

Small varsity division: Southern Columbia, 1st, 214 points; Hughesville, 2nd, 170.5; CMVT, 3rd, 163; Troy, 4th, 135.5. Large varsity division: Milton, 1st, 199 points; Montoursville, 2nd, 198; Shamokin, 3rd, 170. Co-ed division: Warrior Run, 1st, 196.5 points; Williamsport, 2nd, 166; Canton, 3rd, 146.5.
