RUTH FRY/The Luminary Montgomery's Cameron St. James scored 32 points and passed 1,000 career points during last week's game against Cowanesque Valley. This is the first time since 2005 that the boys basketball team has had a 1,000-point scorer.

Cowanesque Valley 65, Montgomery 47

There hasn’t been a Montgomery boys basketball player to score 1,000 career points in 12 years until last week when Cameron St. James scored 32 points and passed the milestone mark during the Raiders game against Cowanesque Valley. The team finished the night with a loss, 65-47, but St. James finished as one of the most successful basketball players to walk the floors at Montgomery high school.

Spartans defeat Tigers on the road

Hughesville 65, Southern 54

Four different players scored in the double digits as Hughesville defeated Southern Columbia, 65-54. Taylor?Mason scored 10 points, had nine rebounds and four assists while Landon?Henry led the Spartans with 18 points and added five assists and seven rebounds.?Conrad Sheatler scored 16, and Matt Myers finished with 12.

Matt Coyner, a junior center, scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds while helping Muncy defeat Benton, 67-45. Jeff Fry finished with a game-high 24 points and six assists. In the 2nd quarter Fry scored 12 of his straight points on four 3-pointers and finished the game making six of nine 3-pointers.

Bucktail 65, Montgomery 61

The Red Raiders rallied the the fourth quarter to tie the game with less than 2 minutes to go but Bucktail pulled through at the end defeating Montgomery, 65-61. Camerson St. James led Montgomery with 34 points, and Brennan Bailey added 11.
