Muncy girls softball was defeated by Northeast Bradford, 8-4, in the District 4 championship game last week at Moser Complex in Turbotville. (Top two teams advance to the state tournament). The Lady Indians are competing in states for the first time since 2009 and are seeking the program’s first state tournament win. The district runner-up played District 6 champion Glendale on Monday. (Score was not available at press time.)

Muncy held a 4-3 lead until Northeast Bradford rallied in the sixth inning to win the Class A district title. Muncy’s Sarah Miller scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, and in the third inning, the Indians scored three runs. Kassidi Lenhart led off in the third smacking a home run into left field that started a three-run inning giving Muncy its only lead of the game, 4-3. During that inning Makenna Snyder hit a double to the left field fence that drove in two runs. Snyder’s double and Lenhart’s home run were the lone two extra-base hits for the Indians as Annabelle Bergey (1 for 2, walk, run) and Kat Ebner (1 for 3, run) both had singles.
