Indians defeat rival Spartans

The Muncy and Hughesville backyard brawl football game was held Friday night at Hughesville High School. In the first quarter Hughesville’s Colton Yocum had an interception on Kolby Moyer’s first pass attempt from the Hughesville 43-yard line. Thirteen plays later Yocum finished the drive with a three yard touchdown to give the Spartans an early 7-0 lead nine minutes into the game and held the lead for 40 minutes of the 48-minute game. Hughesville took the 7-0 lead into halftime and added to it with a 26 yard field goal from Brody Heller with 6:51 left on the game clock to go up 10-6.
Hughesville holding on to the 10-6 lead in the fourth quarter, the Indians rallied scoring a touchdown on Dylan Wilt’s 74-yard kick return and never looked back defeating the Spartans, 13-10. Muncy’s offense had only six first downs all the night as Ty Nixon finished the night with 12-34 and Mike Kustanbauter (5-11) for short rushing gains. Wilt had four receptions in the win with 102 yards and one touchdown.

Brayden Strouse scored three second-quarter touchdowns as he had an 8-yard throw to?Hunter Budman, and then threw a 66-yard TD pass and a 10-yard pass for a 19-0 lead. Budman ran for two scores in the third quarter to give the?Red?Raiders a 33-0 lead. He scored on a 15-yard run and a 23-yard run.
