Muncy students attend state championships for powerlifting

MUNCY – On Saturday, April 27, eight students from Muncy Jr./Sr. High School attended the PSCPA State High School Powerlifting Championships along with our Strength and Conditioning Coach K. Hampe and several parents. At these championships, all the students did exceptionally well in their respective weight and age classes. Four students are now officially state champions in their division, and one student was runner-up.

Kaylyn Rice (Female Middle School 165 lb weight class) Champion Brooke Rishel (Female Junior Varsity 123 lb weight class) Champion Kenny Hampe (Male Middle School 220 lb weight class) Champion Paul Pepper (Male Junior Varsity 148 lb weight class) Champion Ryan Hummer (Male Middle School 114 lb weight class) Runner-up

Mateo Meza, Josiah Meza, Dakota Haueisen also competed. Mateo placed 9th in his division, and Josiah and Dakota each placed 4th in their respective divisions.

Along with these outstanding individual achievements, Muncy was awarded two honors: Best Small School Team and Best New Comer Team.
