Montgomery 14, Pottsville Nativity 3

Montgomery’s defense gave up just 173 yards as it won its second straight game, 14-3, over Nativity. Kade Showers had a sack and four tackles for the Red Raiders, and Steven Prince intercepted a pass. With the win the team is keeping its District 4 Class A playoff alive. Montgomery (2-4) scored a touchdown in each of the first two quarters, taking a 14-0 lead. Kaide Drick ran for 108 yards and a touchdown, Colby Springman added 82 and Logan Almeida threw a 23-yard touchdown to Maurice Walters.

Canton 27, Muncy 13

Canton defeated Muncy, 27-13 in a District 4 Class A championship rematch last Friday night. The Warriors clinched a second straight winning season and avenged last year’s championship loss as it scored 14 points in less than three minutes to open the game. Muncy edged it 9-7 in last year’s final and denied it a district crown for the first time since 1990. Canton pushed the lead to 21-0 in the second quarter, and Muncy (3-3) pulled within 21-7 at halftime. Muncy played without three starting linemen, but should be back this Friday for the Old Shoe Game against Montgomery. Paul Pepper gained a season-high 94 yards, and Ross Eyer made a 34-yard touchdown catch surrounded by two Canton defenders.

Jacob Corson caught a 22-yard pass, and Ethan Sndyer had 31 yards on three completions but the Spartans were shutout by the Defenders, 42-0.
