PHOTO PROVIDED The Lady Spartans had a successful outcome on May 28 at the state championships in Shippensburg when both relay teams placed in the top eight in their respective events. Above, the 4x400 relay team of Cierra Getz, Alainya Sherwood, Kenna Ammar-Khodja, and Elizabeth Fortin crossed the finish line to take sixth place with a time of 4:06.68.
PHOTO PROVIDED Hughesville boys 3,200 relay team of Morgan Gavitt, Logan Long, Hunter Foust, and Kenny Draper brought home the bronze medal from their third-place finish in the Class AA State championships with a time of 8 minutes, 7.14 seconds. Three of their 800 splits came in under 2:02.

Boys-Hughesville had several state-place winners at the Track and Field Class AA state championships in Shippensburg. The boys 3,200 relay team of Logan Long, Kenny Draper, Morgan Gavitt and Hunter Foust finished third in a time of 8 minutes, 7.14 seconds. Three of their 800 splits came in under 2:02. The four members of the 3,200 relay were the top four runners for the Spartans when they won a District 4 team title and finished fourth at the state cross country meet in the fall.

Girls-Both Hughesville relays teams stood on the podium as the 4 x 100 relay team of Alainya Sherwood, Kylie Bieber, Bryn Derrick and Kenna Ammar-Khodja finished fourth in a time of 50.71, and the 4 x 400 relay of Elizabeth Fortin, Cierra Getz, Ammar-Khodja and Sherwood finished sixth running a 4:06.68. The Lady Spartans also have a place winner in the field as Alex Snyder threw the javelin 128 feet o take an 8th place finish.
